Salem, NH – Chuck Morse, Granite State Small Businessman and New Hampshire’s longest serving Senate President, released the following statement regarding the disastrous open border bill that promotes illegal crossings and amnesty for illegal immigrants:
“As a candidate for Governor and a staunch advocate for securing our borders and upholding the rule of law, I feel compelled to strongly oppose the proposed border bill that has recently been put forward.
"This legislation not only fails to secure our border effectively but also includes amnesty provisions and taxpayer-funded support for illegal immigrants. It is deeply concerning that this bill does not prioritize the safety and well-being of American citizens or address the crisis at our southern border adequately.
"Our federal, state and local governments need to stop offering more money and benefits to illegal immigrants, ceasing the incentives for the cartels to sell access to our country.
"With a record number of illegal crossings occurring daily, we are witnessing a severe national security and humanitarian crisis. We cannot turn a blind eye to the chaos that this legislation may exacerbate – this swamp bill legalizes up to 5,000 illegal crossings a day!
"I call upon everyone and anyone who has access to Republican United States Senators to urge them to oppose this open border amnesty plan. We need policies that prioritize border security, uphold the rule of law, and protect the interests of American citizens.
"Amnesty for those who have entered our country illegally undermines the efforts of legal immigrants who have followed the proper channels to become citizens. It sends the wrong message and rewards those who have broken the law. We must find better, more effective ways to address immigration reform that ensures fairness, security, and respect for our nation's laws.
"I believe in the principles upon which our nation was founded, and I am committed to securing our borders, supporting legal immigration, and protecting the safety and prosperity of New Hampshire residents and all Americans.
"Let us unite in the fight to secure our borders and uphold the values that make our nation exceptional.”
